Batter up!  It’s time to play ball in the Avocado League – a league that celebrates women and their love for baseball and Mexican avocados. This All-Star group of eight women will represent their hometowns and compete in an online contest by submitting a game day avocado recipe that best embodies the spirit, passion and flavor of their city. The “Big Hit” recipe – the one with the most online votes – wins the title of Avocado League MVP by general manager and owner, Mexican Hass Avocado Importers Association (MHAIA). The ‘Avocado League Commissioner’ is Jennie Finch, softball player, Olympic gold medalist, wife, mother – and fan of avocados. Visitors can vote for their favorite dish at where they can also get into the game by submitting their own avocado recipe and show the world that avocados aren’t just for guacamole anymore.  Recipes will be selected at random and the site will feature a new recipe daily. Votes will be counted until October 14; with the winner announced on October 19. The recipe with the most votes will be awarded the Grand Slam prize package, hailed as the league’s champion and MVP, receive a $1,000 grocery gift card and a year’s supply of avocados. Second and third place winners will also receive prize packages.
